Puzzled and concerned about recent attacks on Heritage and Reid? The following information might help reassure you and please respond to the Your Say on issues relating to Heritage in the ACT by this Sunday 16 July.

 Urban density and housing

• Less changes to density were desired in the Inner North and City suburbs, notably contributors were concerned about seeing development occur on Ainslie Avenue, and in Reid

• Increased availability and quality of medium-density housing was desired, however the proposed medium-density apartments between Amaroo St and Boroondara St in Reid were opposed

Canberra character

• Contributors desired to retain garden city/ bush capital character, and were concerned it would be lost through increased densification

• Ambience, and open spaces that allow easy access to recreation were highly valued

• The high heritage value of locations in the Inner North and City, and the importance of maintaining heritage was expressed

• Contributors desired protection of heritage including Reid, historic city railroad remnant (in Reid near CIT), Ainslie, Majura Valley Farm, and surrounding mountains

Existing and future developments

• Strong negative sentiment was expressed toward change and densification in Reid. Contributors wanted the remnants of the railway in Reid protected, and its surrounding green space

• Contributors desired quality builds in future development

• Contributors provided feedback on a variety of projects and potential projects including, Thoroughbred Park, and activation of Lake Burley Griffin, Civic Pool, UNSW’s development of the o
